Devoted guardian deity (x) a pitiful, patient little cabbage of a ruler

Foreign enemies invade, and only one of the five ancient kingdoms remains.

"We're doomed! The ruler's been tied up and made into a guard dog!"

"What about the guardian divine beast?!"

"Don't ask. They already skinned it, pulled out its tendons, and ground its bones to dust."

"Yikes..."

How awful.
