An alternate-history European-style story about two male leads and brotherly affection, with a redemptive theme. This is a tragic, angst-heavy story that puts its male leads through terrible ordeals, and leaves them in questionable mental states.

An older brother who is a Swiss doctor, stern and aloof on the outside but gentle, quiet, and remarkably tolerant of pain, and his younger brother, a future Russian assassin, beautiful and delicate in appearance but irritable, cold, and antisocial in temperament.

This is not a romance. Both male leads are straight, and though they are not blood-related, they are more truly brothers than most biological siblings.

The tone is dark, and both male leads suffer terribly. Whether they fight back or endure, they find no way out. Both are fundamentally honest, law-abiding people, ground down by life until they are disillusioned and unhinged. At work, both brothers are gloomy corporate drones.

As a redemption story, it has a happy ending where both survive, a HE (the dog and the Pallas's cat managed to get a HE in a story where one careless moment could have meant a BE. Congratulations to the brothers!). But the journey is extremely bleak.

This is a story that puts its protagonists through the wringer, so proceed with caution. It contains numerous scenes of supporting characters coercing the older brother into same-sex encounters, as well as a scene where the younger brother is nearly melted down with metal.

A very miserable Bernese Mountain Dog and a Pallas's cat. Some scenes are disturbing and may be upsetting, potentially causing readers intense negative emotions. This story is only suitable for readers with strong constitutions.

Not suitable for minors with limited life experience.

The male leads' sexual orientations are like: pig iron.

The protagonists are both straight men, as unyielding as pig iron. They're either straight or broken, with no possibility of turning them gay. Please support these brothers' straight cause.

Most characters with non-heterosexual orientations in this work are villains. Being heterosexual doesn't necessarily make you good, but people who aren't heterosexual are probably awful.

P.S. Important: Please don't refer to them as tops and bottoms or anything like that. Though unrelated by blood, both male leads are straight men who cannot be romanced (what else could they be but straight?). There's no romantic tension between them, and they have a sixteen-year age gap. Their bond is purely familial, beyond blood ties. Romantic love isn't nobler than familial love.

Between the male leads, there's only pure brotherly love. I don't mind shipping them, but if you're uncomfortable with the idea that they're both bottoms, that's your problem.

The author has also made both the older and younger brothers bottoms. Run if you can't accept that!!!

The younger brother is an ISTJ Pallas's cat, and the older brother is an ISFJ Bernese Mountain Dog (the result is just for fun and reference).
