A System whose serial number it would rather not disclose has spent decades recruiting COSplayers to transmigrate, and has plenty of experience at it. It lurks at conventions year-round, with a keen eye for talent. Every COSplayer it picks is exceptionally gifted and completes every task the System assigns perfectly. It is truly one of the top ten Systems, the king of the industry.
One day, the top-ten System received a task: recruit a COSplayer to repair the badly damaged world of Detective Conan. The source series could be anything.
Keeping the transmigrator's best interests in mind, the System thought for a moment, then happily made its decision:
You're the one, Edogawa Ranpo COSplayer!
With the boost from the original character's attributes, the world's greatest detective, Lord Ranpo, would surely thrive in the Conan world, right?
The first year after the Ranpo COSplayer was recruited into the Conan world, everything went smoothly. The COSplayer's acting was quite good, much to the System's fatherly delight.
The second year after the Ranpo COSplayer transmigrated into the Conan world, everything went smoothly. The COSplayer had successfully made contact with the protagonist, and seemed to have no trouble staying alive.
After two years of watching, the System was reassured. It gave the COSplayer endless reminders to take good care of themself, left behind a backpack full of items, and logged off in style, hoping to update its data and provide the Host with more help.
It was gone for five whole years.
Five years later, the System returned from its update. The moment it opened its eyes, it saw the Host perched in the Boss's seat at the Black Organization, casually ordering the original story's most fearsome man, the organization's top killer, to go buy him dessert.
System: ...
System: ???????
Host! What are you doing, Host?! You're here to fix bugs, not add more bugs!!!
COSplayer: Surprised? Didn't see that coming? This is only the beginning.
Other Hosts are meek and helpless without their Systems. Without its System, this Host strikes back with all their might.
Other Hosts prioritize survival. This Host prioritizes having fun.
Other Hosts consider blending in as a fake-liquor lackey the peak of their lives. This Host takes the Boss's seat and still isn't satisfied.
System: N-no, no, no! At this rate, you're the biggest bug of all! What are you doing, Host...? (face of anguish)
Host: What did you say? The world wants to erase me? No worries. If I think it's about to kill me, I'll make Detective Conan end on a terrible note right away~
The stubborn System couldn't accept that it had misjudged the situation and was convinced the Host had mutated. After a moment of silence, it made one last desperate attempt to save this world on the verge of collapse by recruiting a few more COSplayers.
And so they got:
Osamu Dazai with above-average martial arts skills (better than Chuya's); Chuya Nakahara, a master of plotting; Atsushi Nakajima, even more of a walking black swamp than the original Dazai; Fyodor, a champion of justice; and Yukichi Fukuzawa, a chaotic, unhinged fun-seeker...
They left the already precarious world with barely a breath of life.
Watching the outrageous COSplayers fight among themselves, the System experienced a spiritual awakening: ...
System: Why did I choose you all in the first place? No, why did all you monsters decide to cosplay...?!
System: Whoever wants to manage this batch of COSplayers can have them. I'm done! (smashes its screen)
Please note:
* COSplayers transmigrating into characters are extremely out of character! Extremely out of character! If it gets cringey, feel free to bail.
* You can tell from the title: this is pure, brainless wish fulfillment.
* Silly fun from beginning to end, with everyone getting tormented.
* The protagonist is a scheming, nearly demonic fun-seeker. He'll hold back a little when someone's keeping an eye on him, but when left alone, he'll wreak havoc everywhere (?!)
* If it's not your thing, please don't be hurtful.
Theme: Take life seriously.
