The summer night was stifling.

Yu Zhi curled up and rinsed the thick foam from her neck with clean water.

The bathroom in her rental apartment was pitch-black after a power outage.

The man stubbed out his cigarette, then wedged a flashlight onto the doorknob to shine light inside for her.

Through the crack in the door, steam swirled around his strong forearm, carrying the fresh scent of body wash.

Once the flashlight was steady, he quietly left.

The sound of water stopped abruptly behind him. Her voice was clear: "Gu Shangchen, do you want to watch me?"

Five minutes later,

The flashlight was knocked to the floor, and darkness fell around them once more.

The water kept running.
