[Genshin Impact] After Becoming the Guide System for the Fourth Calamity

With this world's Paimon missing, the main world dispatched support machine POD-A090 as a guide System, directing the Traveler, who had drifted in from beyond the heavens, on a journey to visit the seven nations, seek out the gods, and reunite with their lost twin.

What no one expected was that this world's Traveler wasn't the original version either. They were a player of the original Genshin Impact who had been reborn in another world. In other words: the Fourth Calamity.

The first day the world opened

Pod floated in the sea, waiting to be fished up.

Mondstadt was stripped bare like a swarm of locusts had passed through. Every camp was left in ruins, with not a single thing spared.

The second day the world opened

Pod sank to the bottom, trying to analyze and learn.

Every last bit of ore in Liyue was plundered, and every monster was wiped out overnight.

The third day in the water

The player arrived at the starting beach, the legendary place where the dream began.

Pod: Is the player finally going to start the story?

...No. The player was hugging an Ice Slime, trying to freeze a path across the sea to Inazuma.

Pod shot out of the water: "You can explore the area ahead later!"

Later, two young travelers, infamous from Mondstadt to Snezhnaya, were asked to summarize their journey so far.

The blond player declared righteously: We saved the Anemo Archon's familiar with the Anemo Archon, held a funeral for the Geo Archon, made a friendly deal with the Cryo Archon, helped the Raiden Shogun overcome her inner turmoil, and rescued the Lesser Lord Kusanali from the Sanctuary of Surasthana and freed her from captivity.

The white-haired guide calmly agreed: That's right.

...They'd just left out a few insignificant details.

For example, putting on street performances with the Anemo Archon while burying his friend, robbing the Geo Archon in front of him, cutting down the Cryo Archon's subordinates (multiple times), blowing up the Raiden Shogun's home, kidnapping the Lesser Lord Kusanali, and making her use the Sanctuary of Surasthana as collateral to take on a huge debt.

The blond player looked innocent: After that, we worked tirelessly to achieve the grand feat of saving the world.

The white-haired guide: ...Every day since then, I've been working to stop the Fourth Calamity from destroying the world. :)

1. The pairing is player x System, one-on-one. Blond top x white-haired bottom, firmly fixed, no switching or reversing.

2. The player isn't Aether. The System has a human form as a white-haired boy, and there will be a whole lot of scenes with him in human form.

3. The support machine is inspired by NieR: Automata. The A090 model is obtained by fishing, corresponding to fishing up Paimon, but this story has nothing to do with NieR's plot and requires no prior knowledge.

Wangyue Shixi inexplicably transmigrated to Teyvat and was dropped into a position as a Fatui Harbinger. His future looked bright.

But at the same time, he was bound to a tabletop-RPG investigator System.

The rookie System declared with great enthusiasm: Our goal is to become a legendary investigator!

Wangyue Shixi was just as excited, and immediately rolled a critical failure for the System to show off his skills.

System: ...Huh?

Fortunately, in the loving and supportive Fatui family, there were plenty of coworkers who would share his burdens and the penalties for his critical failures.

A mysterious alchemical explosion in the headquarters laboratory...

The Doctor, who hadn't slept despite a dozen of his segments getting blown up: What the hell is wrong with him?

He helpfully tried to revive a coworker who looked unwell by punching them...

The Regrator, seriously injured by his coworker, forced a smile: That was a great rescue. Don't do it again.

A random episode of temporary madness gave him a craving for social dependence...

The Balladeer, deeply touched to be loved like a son, clenched his fists: ...You're dead!

Another attack went out of control and targeted an ally...

The Knave, skillfully dodging another backstab from a coworker, flew into a rage and started a fight on the spot: I've been putting up with you for ages. Are you ever going to stop?

Wangyue Shixi insisted he was innocent: It's not like I want to keep rolling critical failures!

...Well, there was nothing for it. The rest of the Fatui would just have to put up with him.
