The Blind Husband

[This story is quite different in style from my older works. Some readers will be fine with that, while others will hate it, so proceed with caution.] [The comment section will probably be closed about a month after the story ends. Please keep that in mind if it bothers you.] Reason for closing comments: Arguments broke out in the comments, the author deleted comments, the conflict escalated, and the comment section was closed. Synopsis: Jiang Songyue fell for Wenren Jingque. Unfortunately, she was a vulgar merchant’s daughter, and no amount of wealth could make her worthy of a noble-born gentleman as radiant as the moon. Still, a girl could dream. After bathing and burning incense, Jiang Songyue went devoutly to Bodhi Temple to pray for Heaven to turn a blind eye just once. Heaven didn’t go blind. Wenren Jingque did. Wenren Jingque: “I’ve lost my sight, but my face is still easy on the eyes. Does that put you off, miss?” Jiang Songyue shook her head, blushing. . After they married, Jiang Songyue sought out famous doctors to treat Wenren Jingque’s eye injury, but it never seemed to help. Fortunately, her husband had excellent hearing, so losing his sight didn’t make much difference. Taking advantage of the fact that Wenren Jingque couldn’t see, Jiang Songyue often leaned in close to sneak a look at him. His peach-blossom eyes were right there, brimming with tenderness, filled with nothing but her. “What are you doing, my lady?” Wenren Jingque asked with a smile. Jiang Songyue hurriedly picked up the ledger she’d dropped. “I’m, I’m reading poetry.” . Later, Wenren Jingque regained his sight. Everyone said Jiang Songyue had struck it rich, but the very next day, Wenren Jingque was kicked out of the Jiang estate. A divorce letter was thrown out with him. 1. The male lead pretends to be blind, and there’s a chase-your-wife arc. This is not a crematorium-style story. 2. The characters aren’t perfect. There are plenty of potential landmines, so proceed with caution. A sweet romance coming soon: The Scheming Mistress’s Handbook. Synopsis: A well-meaning fool who wants to be evil * a cunning man who’ll make you grit your teeth in hate To get revenge on her scumbag father, who abandoned his wife and child, and her fiancé, who went to the capital for the civil service exams, passed, and never returned, Luo Xinci assumes the identity of a marquis’s illegitimate daughter and heads to the capital. On her very first day at the marquis’s estate, she witnesses a thrilling scene of father and son stabbing each other, blade into flesh. Luo Xinci: “!” With no way out, Luo Xinci steels herself and greets her elder half-brother. Her half-brother wipes the fresh blood from his dagger and gives her a meaningful glance. “You’ve changed so much, little sister. I barely recognized you.” Luo Xinci: “...Yes... B-Big Brother.” . After failing for the third time in front of her fiancé, Luo Xinci decides she simply isn’t cut out to be evil. She gives up and packs her things to return to Jingzhou, but her half-brother stops her. “I’ll teach you.” “Teach me what?” Her half-brother doesn’t say. He simply takes Luo Xinci around the capital for two days. On the third day, her fiancé gets into legal trouble. Luo Xinci’s eyes light up. “Brother! Dear brother! Teach me!” “If you want me to teach you, fine.” Her half-brother hooks a stray lock of hair beside her temple with his long fingers. His gaze slips from her cheek to her red lips, and his voice turns low. “But I’m morally bankrupt and have no regard for ethics or proper conduct... Do you understand?” Luo Xinci: “...” What kind of wicked person was this? . At first, no one paid any attention to the illegitimate daughter from the countryside. Then she stole the hearts of countless talented young men, ruined the new top scholar’s prospects, and had the marquis’s eldest son wrapped around her little finger. Only then did people realize that this country girl had some tricks up her sleeve! After that, Luo Xinci’s true identity came to light. She went from being a marquis’s illegitimate daughter to a criminal’s daughter, and then rose to become the marquis’s principal wife. The capital’s residents: This country girl is really something! Luo Xinci forced a stiff smile. “You’re too kind... too kind...” 1. The heroine assumes the identity of a marquis’s illegitimate daughter to enter the capital. When the leads develop feelings for each other, they both know they aren’t related by blood. They just like playing along. Theme: Love knows no class.
