After a Monster Dragged Me Back to Its Lair

In a world overrun by monsters, they are dark, selfish, cold, and obsessive monsters themselves. Yet from the moment they first met, they were each other's salvation.

University professor Yu Jin found a little monster of unknown origins on his way home from work. The little monster tugged at his hand and cooed, "Big brother, I'm hungry."

Yu Jin took the little monster home. Starting that very day, a tall, handsome student began auditing his class.

Like the little monster, the auditor's origins were unknown. Nobody knew his name or background, but he always showed up to Yu Jin's class on time, without fail.

The auditor was always finding one excuse or another to get close to Yu Jin. One day, when his plot was exposed, Yu Jin glared at him and demanded, "Having fun, little monster?"

The auditor grinned and transformed back into a child, tugging at Yu Jin's hand as he cooed, "Big brother, let's go home."

"You destroyed my home."

The little monster replied, gentle but determined, "Let's go to our home. I'll take you back to my nest and hide you away where nobody can find you."

After Yu Jin sent the little monster away, a colleague who looked almost exactly like the auditor appeared by his side. He was gentle and refined, utterly unlike the obsessive auditor in his manner and actions.

Except for that face, nearly identical in every detail.

Nightmares crept over Yu Jin like ghosts. In his dreams, this new colleague held him captive in his arms, murmuring in three completely different voices.

Those voices belonged to the little monster, the auditor, and the man himself.

Yu Jin lay in the nest the man had woven. Wen Nanzhi used his powers to seal it up tight, so not even a trace of suspicious odor could escape.

Wen Nanzhi held him with sickening devotion, repeating over and over, "I have to hide you away, big brother, so nobody can find you."

"Starting today, I'm your attending physician." The doctor in a beaked mask cleared away the bothersome monsters surrounding Nian Shi, then gently touched his bleeding wound. "Welcome back."

Fear drove Nian Shi to reveal all his secrets to the doctor, earning protection comparable to that of a god.

Nian Shi clung tightly to the doctor's outstretched hand, his lifeline. Curiosity drove him to raise his hand and touch the cold beaked mask.

Beneath it was a familiar face, identical to his own, the same face Nian Shi saw in the mirror every day.

"Allow me to introduce myself again. My name is Ling Si." The doctor smiled, revealing golden slit pupils, as a forked tongue curled around Nian Shi's waist. "Tomorrow is still our wedding. This time, I won't let you escape."

Nian Shi and Ling Si are inspired by the Chimera in Greek mythology. They are monsters, chimeras, and the people in the world who know each other best.

If they can't be with Nian Shi, their lives will have no meaning.
