Adolescence is wonderful, but not for Han Xi.
At fifteen, Han Xi was chubby, covered in acne, and smelled of cooking oil. She wore a school uniform washed nearly white, and no one wanted to be her friend.
The one thing she'd been proud of, her grades, became worthless after she entered a top provincial high school.
To make matters worse, after she helped deliver a love letter to the most popular boy at school, rumors spread and his admirers cornered her in the bathroom and bullied her.
But if Han Xi could choose again, she would still deliver that love letter.
Because that day, when she was at her lowest, ugliest, and most desperate, Xie Mosi opened the door, and moonlight spilled across the floor.
*
Over the ten years she spent chasing her unattainable love, Han Xi lost weight, grew beautiful, and worked hard to get into Xie Mosi's university for graduate school. All the while, she watched Xie Mosi date her childhood friend, get engaged, break up, get back together, and eventually go abroad to study with her.
What's worse than secretly loving someone you can never have?
The person you love is straight.
Han Xi was done.
So, heartbroken and disillusioned, she accepted a confession from Xie Mosi's sworn enemy, Jiang Ci.
Until the day she told Jiang Ci they were breaking up.
Xie Mosi pinned her against the edge of the bed, eyes red.
"If she can, why can't I?"
*
Jiang Ci was twenty-seven when she starred in her first leading-role film.
Yet she became the first actress to win all four major awards within three years.
Everyone was curious about the person Jiang Ci thanked as "my love" every time she accepted an award.
Could the award-winning actress Jiang be secretly married?
Gossip reporters and paparazzi camped out for three years, but none of them managed to photograph the actress's beloved.
Until one day, Jiang Ci smiled toward someone in the audience, and the broadcast camera showed Han Xi's astonished face.
Jiang Ci: "I'd like to thank my love, Han Xi."
Han Xi: "...We broke up three years ago. Seriously, thanks a lot."
Jiang Ci: "Still mad?"
Han Xi: "???"
*
Han Xi accidentally picked up a little shadow. The girl was sweet and obedient, but clingy as could be.
Maybe I'll just treat her like a little sister, Han Xi thought.
Until one day,
her "little sister" tied her hands and pushed her down onto the bed.
Only then did Han Xi realize
Was there something strange about this little sister?
[Cool and aloof unattainable-love top] [Beautiful top with a vicious streak] [Scheming female ghost top] [Gentle bottom, soft on the outside and resilient within]
Bottom's point of view. A slow-burn coming-of-age story about a lovable idiot.
"So even the moon can fall for a mortal."
Please note before reading:
* Nothing happened between the unattainable love and the male supporting character, but they really did date and kiss. Don't read if that bothers you.
* The endgame couple is Han Xi and her unattainable love. This is not a multiple-love-interest story, and it is not a story where both leads are virgins. Jiang Ci is a supporting character. The female lead and Jiang Ci dated, slept together, loved each other, and lived together. There will be a love-triangle showdown later, as well as the unattainable love's desperate pursuit of her ex. Don't root for the wrong couple.
* Inspired by a dream. It's a Mary Sue story with a melodramatic love triangle. None of the main characters are paragons of morality. It's pure wish fulfillment, set in a completely fictional world. Don't read if that's not your thing.
[The full novel will only start updating once the entire manuscript is finished, so I don't leave it unfinished...]
