Even the Demon Venerable Doesn't Know

Yu Shu transmigrates into a cultivation novel he once read.

In this novel, both the protagonist and the antagonist have tragic backgrounds. They were abused and betrayed, but the protagonist found redemption and eventually became a revered Immortal Venerable.

The antagonist, meanwhile, fought his way through the Demon Realm and ultimately became the Demon Venerable, hated by all.

At last, the protagonist and antagonist faced off at the summit of the Nine Mountains. The antagonist lost to a single move and died beneath the protagonist's sword.

If Yu Shu had arrived earlier, he might have wanted to save the Demon Venerable too. But by the time he transmigrated into the story, it was already nearing its end.

By then, the antagonist had become the Demon Venerable. He trusted no one, not even the spirit beasts. He believed that anything with a brain and a heart would betray him, so he kept a whole bunch of brainless jellyfish instead.

And Yu Shu was one of those brainless jellyfish.

"...?"

After grieving for a while, Yu Shu began to set his sights on the Demon Venerable seated high above him.

According to the original plot, after the protagonist killed the antagonist, his underlings would chop the antagonist's body into mincemeat, then set the Demon Palace ablaze. The water jellyfish the antagonist kept would naturally all burn to death.

To stay alive, Yu Shu had to stop the antagonist.

But he was trapped in this enormous fish tank. The only thing he could do was try to attract the antagonist's attention by repeatedly free-falling.

With that in mind, Yu Shu reached out a tentacle to wipe away tears he didn't have.

But no matter how many times he free-fell, the antagonist didn't even spare him a glance.

Just as Yu Shu was about to give up, the antagonist finally appeared in front of the tank.

The antagonist glanced at the tank, then pointed at Yu Shu. "This one's dead. Eat it!"

Yu Shu: "...?!"
