Ailo is an NPC in a detective game. He travels between different game scenarios, guiding players through the story and providing clues at the right moments.
He spent years living an utterly ordinary office-worker life. But lately, he has noticed that the players are acting strangely.
Big Bat: Come with me. I'll teach you how to get revenge. (A homeless orphan adopted by the landlady in a serial murder case.)
Kryptonian: I'll protect you until you find the truth you're looking for. (An intern reporter who will stop at nothing to uncover the truth in a husband-murder case.)
Tin Can: I nearly got you killed. I'll make it up to you. (The stagehand who is the only one to believe the legend of the Phantom in a theater murder case.)
Ailo: Hold on, the main plot isn't about me. I'm just an NPC! Aren't you all focusing on the wrong thing?!
One day, the superheroes are pulled into a strange game. It tells them to become detectives and find the killer.
As they investigate, they discover someone special has been helping them all along.
Scenario 1: Gotham's slums are home to a famous barber. Strangely, many of his customers vanish without a trace after visiting his shop. Meanwhile, the pie shop downstairs is doing better and better business.
Scenario 2: In the glittering metropolis, a beautiful, elegant woman becomes a media sensation after being accused of murdering her husband. Facing the cameras, she tearfully recounts his terrible deeds. She wins public sympathy, but the truth cannot stay buried forever.
Scenario 3: A terrifying legend haunts New York's historic opera house. A dreadful phantom lurks inside, using the leading lady's voice to display his peerless musical talent. He sees her as a treasure that belongs to him alone and threatens to kill anyone who dares covet her.
