"A Qin... It's nice that you have no heart."
The man had said this to Luo Qin in a low, languid voice steeped in the amorous charm of Qinhuai's pleasure quarters, like honey mixed with poison.
It was the look Luo Qin hated most.
The man's name was Gu Shu. He was the greatest swordsman under heaven, peerless in both poetry and swordsmanship, and unmatched in charm. He had once faced thirty-six evil sects alone with his sword, and plucked flowers beneath the moon, making an imperial princess fall for him.
Luo Qin was a boy whose life Gu Shu had spared with his sword. Gu Shu gave him a bowl of rice, and Luo Qin followed him from place to place, silent and "loyal" as a shadow.
Don't get the wrong idea. He wasn't Gu Shu's disciple. He was just the one who carried Gu Shu's swords. He followed behind Gu Shu with the swords in his arms and offered them up whenever they were needed. That was all he had to do.
He watched Gu Shu casually dispatch evil spirits and accept adulation with languid indifference. He watched as men and women alike fell for him, moths to a flame, beneath flowers and under the moon. He also watched as friends and family betrayed him, blades pierced his body, and he met a terrible end.
Luo Qin had seen it coming and thought he wouldn't be affected. But his body drew its sword of its own accord and plunged it into the heart of the betrayer... It was the first person he'd ever killed.
He became a lone-wolf assassin with an impeccable reputation in the martial world, taking payment for jobs and treating every client fairly. His life was as still as stagnant water. Day after day passed like this, until he died at the hands of a target stronger than himself. Luo Qin thought that was how his life would go.
One day, he went to carry out a job as usual.
The carriage curtain was lifted, and his unfailing signature sword technique was easily broken. A face long since buried appeared again beneath the daylight, surprise in those infuriating phoenix eyes. "Oh, A Qin! Long time no see."
After his brief shock, Luo Qin frowned in disgust.
Could he still pretend not to recognize this man and "accidentally" kill him? Asking for advice, urgently!
Low-fantasy wuxia. Sly, charming master who transmigrated into a book x cold-hearted, ordinary disciple (They are technically master and disciple. The gong considers the shou his disciple, but the shou can't stand him and doesn't want to acknowledge him as his master.)
Updates are irregular, and it might not be long. I just want to write some bittersweet unrequited-love fiction.
Theme: Stay positive.
