Mio's Perspective:
I'm accident-prone, and ever since I was little, I've always ended up getting caught up in all kinds of cases. I've been to the police station so many times it feels like a second home. I love all the police uncles and aunties. Seeing them makes me feel incredibly safe.
One day, one night, in a torrential downpour, I was targeted by a criminal yet again.
A handsome guy with curly hair rescued me.
A perfect damsel-in-distress rescue scene.
If...
I hadn't happened to be on my period, and if the rain hadn't been pounding down on me so long that blood kept running down between my thighs, I think I would have gone right along with it and started a sweet romance with the handsome guy who was worriedly asking me if I was hurt anywhere, instead of being so embarrassed I wanted to vanish on the spot.
Matsuda: "If you aren't hurt, then... did you have a miscarriage?"
Me: "Don't you dare slander my good name!! I've never even dated a man!! How could I possibly have a miscarriage!!!"
Much later, I started dating this police officer who wasn't very tactful, but was seriously super handsome.
Then, one rainy-night murder case brought back memories that should have been dead and buried, hitting me all over again.
Little Conan, seeing blood running down between my thighs: "Could she have miscarried after the criminal knocked her to the ground?"
Officer Sato, mistakenly thinking I'd lost Matsuda's child: (eyes wide with shock) "You'd better take responsibility, Matsuda!"
Only my boyfriend stayed calm, taking off his coat and tying it around my waist.
Matsuda: "At least remember roughly when your period is due!"
A few notes before reading:
1. Accident-prone girl x the officer who always happens to be there when she has bad luck
2. Matsuda pairing, one-on-one sweet romance
3. The main story is in third person
