It had been a month since the police academy started, and Matsuda, whom everyone had just gotten to know, kept asking for leave.
On top of that, he always looked utterly exhausted.
"Four sons... They're terrifying."
That's what he said, too.
Furuya Rei: "Are you saying we're their dads?"
Matsuda Jinpei: "No, I really do have four sons."
After witnessing things like him nearly dropping the kids on the floor and feeding them scalding water instead of milk, Morofushi Hiromitsu stepped in!
Morofushi Hiromitsu: "Please stop terrorizing your sons. I'll help you."
To thank his friends for their help, Matsuda Jinpei enthusiastically sent all four kids away... to be their godsons.
Matsuda Jinpei: Pick one. (In the tone of someone choosing cabbages.)
After graduation, Furuya Rei and Morofushi Hiromitsu had no choice but to turn down an offer from Public Security so they could look after their best friend's increasingly rambunctious quadruplets.
Furuya Rei/Morofushi Hiromitsu: Sorry, but it really seems like the kids would die without us.
And so, a strange way to save everyone was born!
Reader's Notes:
1. The police academy squad all raise kids together.
2. Matsuda is married from the start, and the female lead is a cat spirit who grew up with him as his childhood friend. When they were little, she was his pet.
3. The police academy squad quickly figures out she's a cat spirit, since the little ones can't control their transformations. So Furuya Rei and Morofushi Hiromitsu have an even better reason to turn down the offer! They're four cat-spirit babies, after all! They absolutely need someone to look after them!
4. No one needs saving; everyone in the police academy squad survives. They get to experience the struggles and joys of raising kids while still young. Rei and the others spend most of their free time helping their classmates with childcare, taking turns on a set schedule.
5. With so many kids, this Matsuda gets obsessed with inventing things to make money. The four godfathers are also careful to earn money, since they keep worrying that Matsuda's salary alone won't be enough to raise four kids.
6. The story of Matsuda and the cat-spirit girl when they were little, and how their relationship changed, will be covered in a later extra.
