My Husband and I Were Made for Each Other

[Two Ambitious Scheming Types, Two Career-Driven Types]

People in the capital praised Yun Fanji, the fifth young lady of the Chancellor's household, for her beauty and kind heart. Though born to a concubine, she had a face like Guanyin and the compassion of a Bodhisattva.

Third Prince Cui Yu, meanwhile, was as pure and refined as a breeze beneath a clear sky, every inch a gentleman.

When the capital's celebrated good-reputation duo heard this:

Third Prince: Tsk.

Fifth Young Lady: Tsk, tsk. (At twice the volume.)

Yun Fanji knew at first sight that she and Cui Yu were alike: both hid their claws beneath a docile exterior, ambitious and determined to stop at nothing until they got what they wanted.

She had no desire to provoke him. All she wanted was to secure a good marriage for herself. Judging by his actions, that was all he wanted too.

Yet who could have guessed that two people with no connection whatsoever would one day embrace, their passion rising like red waves as they clung to each other in an all-consuming tangle.

"Isn't power and status what you want, my dear? There is no position in this world more exalted than empress. Do you dare take a gamble with me?"

Though his clothes were disheveled, the man still looked like an immortal descended from the heavens. Smiling, he used a peach branch to tease the beauty's loose strands of dark hair.

"Why wouldn't I dare?"

Panting, Yun Fanji snatched the branch and raised an eyebrow at him, her gaze clear. "But Your Highness had better make sure you survive to the very end."

The empress's throne was already spoken for. She had her eye on it, and the empress could not be replaced, but the emperor still could.

Yun Fanji felt like the vicious supporting woman in a romance story: low-born, scheming and plotting at every turn, with an ending that usually went badly.

But she would still fight!

If no one would help her or protect her, then she would fight for a way to survive herself.

[Love fades, and a good partner may change their heart, but they will always stand together when their interests align.]

[Power: a woman's best beauty treatment.]

[Neither the male nor female lead is a good person. This is probably a story about a scheming villainess joining forces with a seemingly innocent but secretly ruthless antagonist.]
