[Romance-focused blurb]

When Song Jue was young, she was taken hostage by a criminal. A policewoman who had been posing as a passerby tackled the girl to save her, taking a knife wound in her place. That was how Song Jue survived.

Song Jue couldn't remember the policewoman's face, but she always thought back to that day: the woman's gentle embrace and her faint, womanly scent mingled with the smell of blood.

After graduating with a degree in forensic evidence examination, Song Jue was hired by the Kyoto Public Security Bureau and was even given a special appointment to the Criminal Investigation Unit.

She thought she was about to realize her dream and help deliver justice to the people. Instead, the captain waved a hand and assigned her to Cen Chujing.

Who was Cen Chujing? Stern and cold-blooded, with a tongue sharp enough to run Song Jue through. Rumors about them spread throughout the criminal police unit. Everyone said the two were always at odds, the most combative mentor-and-student pair on the team.

Song Jue hated Cen Chujing. She really hated her.

Until one day, an accident occurred while they were on a mission. Cen Chujing was injured protecting her student. Song Jue dutifully stayed by her bedside at the hospital, but while helping her change clothes, she looked down and saw a vicious scar on her pale chest.

Blushing furiously, she realized the scar seemed to be in exactly the same place as the wound that policewoman had suffered eight years ago.

I'm done for, Song Jue thought.
