A spirited, soft and cute Bashu girl who loves to talk back x a seemingly fierce, hulking butcher husband who is actually an honest, bear-like simpleton.
Zhu Zhu, a Bashu girl who died in an earthquake, wakes up in the body of a soft and cute girl who had taken her own life. Her new self is unloved by her parents, and her stepmother forces her to marry a hulking, fierce-looking man named Huo Shoujiang in exchange for an exorbitant bride price.
Just as Zhu Zhu is thinking of running away, Huo Shoujiang promises on his own that he won't touch her, and that when she wants to leave, he'll divorce her...
But this husband she's gotten for free seems pretty good!
He's handsome and obedient, like a big, silly bear.
He grows flowers for her and saves up money for her escape. He mends the clothes she tears during fights, easily hoists her onto his right shoulder so she can pick fruit, and can both earn a living slaughtering pigs and do blacksmith work to help with the business ideas she casually mentions...
And his body... is pretty tempting too!!!
After spending time together, Zhu Zhu realizes that Huo Shoujiang only looks fierce. In truth, he's an honest man of action who is always being taken advantage of. He won't even fight back or talk back when people bully him. Gradually, Zhu Zhu finds herself always standing up for him, even... secretly fighting people on his behalf!
As time goes by, Zhu Zhu decides that this heaven-sent marriage isn't so bad after all.
It's just that the exorbitant bride price they paid to find Huo Shoujiang a wife nearly emptied the family coffers, so they need to improve their finances.
And so Zhu Zhu uses her experience with all kinds of night-market snacks and years of part-time jobs to set out on the road to prosperity, even bringing chain-store business practices to ancient times!
Huo Shoujiang is a big, silly fellow with a fierce face and a hulking build. Women steer clear of him, and he can't find a wife. His worried mother pays an exorbitant bride price and brings home Zhu Zhu, a daughter of the Zhu family.
On their wedding night, his bride is trembling with fear. Before he can even speak to her, she jumps into a well the next morning.
Fortunately, she's rescued! After this devastating setback, Huo Shoujiang decides to wait until Zhu Zhu has recovered, then divorce her and let her go.
But his beloved wife seems nothing like the rumors described...
She can host guests and cook in the kitchen. She doesn't just give the people who love to take advantage of others and gossip a thorough tongue-lashing, she also sneaks out to fight on his behalf and defend his good name.
Sometimes, in the middle of the night, she even sleepwalks into his bed!
