Everyday hauntings and supernatural incidents transformed into “medium game” scenarios of “rules-based horror”:
An unsigned package sent to the underworld brings a death threat. The address on it comes from the grave of the former homeowner.
A haunted livestream tracks down the streamer and viewers online to kill them. Only you can see the shadow in the footage.
A terrifying last subway train bound for the underworld, where you ride alongside a vengeful ghost.
A “human flesh package” delivered by a community group-buying service to the wrong address, followed by a vengeful spirit's pursuit.
An ATM that spits out hell money in the dead of night, a drowned spirit possessing a shared umbrella, a smart lock that unlocks itself in the middle of the night, a cat in a pet cafe that speaks like a human, a rental hanfu shop whose clothes make you itch and develop corpse spots, followed by nightmares of being buried alive as a sacrificial bride night after night, an internet-famous candle made from corpse oil that weeps bloody tears every night, a ghost lamenting as it listens to a radio drama at midnight, and a 24-hour convenience store where ghost food randomly appears...
More than three hundred ghost stories based on things around us. There's bound to be one that feels strangely familiar...
A supernatural girl who may be an ancestor and crawled out of a coffin, and a poor, handsome college student who can see spirits. His relatives sold his birth details to arrange a ghost marriage, and by a twist of fate he was married to her. Together, they get trapped in strange rules-based horrors and open the Crossing Calamities Studio, a yin-yang paper effigy shop that takes people's money to ward off disasters, hoping to grow rich and stay alive.
Mo Ciying, an immortal who has been trapped in a coffin for a thousand years:
- Her coffin is her “yin-yang anchor,” forcibly dragging her to the heart of every terrifying haunting and supernatural incident.
- The moment she closes her eyes, she falls into purgatory, reliving unsolved cases and the gruesome deaths behind the hauntings. Without a solution, there is no peace.
- Her yin-yang eyes can see through evil and shatter its source. The paper effigies she makes summon souls, her paper lanterns illuminate resentment, and her paper bridges ferry the lonely dead across. All are extraordinarily mystical.
Mo Rangchen, a young college student with yin-yang eyes and the ability to draw “ghosts” and “paper effigy puppets.”
- An ordinary person who naturally attracts ghosts and resentful spirits. After his relatives sold his birth details to arrange a ghost marriage, he got trapped in rules-based horror and must support his ghost wife.
- A “medium” and sculpture major at an art academy, with the combined skills to become a master of paper effigy puppets. His paper effigies are twice as effective.
- Timid in everyday life but tough when trouble strikes, this sweet-talking younger man knows how to cling to his “ancestor” ghost wife's leg and coax her. He knows exactly how to make the most of his handsome face and good looks to seduce her.
“Has a guest brought yin miasma to my humble shop? Would you like to prepare paper money to communicate with the netherworld, or put an end to the trouble caused by evil spirits?”
