There are villains in this world who are pure thrill-seekers, antisocial personalities who commit every kind of atrocity just to drag everyone into hell.
Chu Xi's task is to play one of these villains: hurt others and himself, then die a satisfying death.
System: "Your goal, Host, is to do everything you can to get yourself killed!"
Chu Xi: "Sounds great!"
But why is it that every time, in the end, the monsters who are supposed to kill the villain instead treat him like a treasure and keep him all to themselves?
First world: The apocalypse villain who creates monsters.
The apocalypse arrives, and the world becomes a living hell.
No one knows that Chu Xi, a precious researcher, preaches about working for humanity while secretly conducting all kinds of inhumane experiments.
He doesn't treat monsters as people, and he doesn't treat himself as one, either.
According to the script, after the base is invaded and the laboratory destroyed, the protagonist will rescue the monster being used as an experimental subject and, with its help, save the world.
But just as the story reaches its end, the monster swallows him, trapping him in darkness. Then he hears the sound of a heartbeat.
This is the monster's fatal weakness, and the place it protects most fiercely. No one knows that the young man who died long ago has been secretly hidden inside, unable even to control whether he is conscious.
"I've always done what you said and cooperated with your research. So why do you keep trying to abandon me?"
Slimy tentacles press affectionately against his cheek. "But now you're mine."
Second world: The villain who makes dolls.
Doll City is a place where generations of people have made dolls for a living. Legend has it that whoever creates the most perfect doll in the world will receive the gods' favor.
In this city, Chu Xi is a useless failure who can't make dolls at all.
Until he becomes infatuated with the protagonist and starts approaching, following, and spying on him... going further and further.
At last, he makes a doll that's identical to the protagonist and claims the young man for himself.
According to the script, a god will eventually descend into this doll and save the declining Doll City together with the protagonist. Once Chu Xi's actions are exposed, everyone will despise him, and he'll die while wandering the roads.
After entering the world, Chu Xi follows the script obediently and doesn't miss a single opportunity to get himself killed.
As he watches the doll become more and more lifelike, he feels pleased, thinking he'll soon complete his mission.
Until one night, he accidentally discovers a hidden door and a peephole in his room.
He opens the door in confusion, and a doll in the shape of a young man walks toward him with a stiff smile.
Just as he is overcome by fear, a pair of arms wraps around him.
From behind his ear comes the young man's impatient voice.
"Get lost. It's my turn today."
.
After going through several worlds, Chu Xi is finally exhausted.
Chu Xi: "System, you lied to me."
System: "What's wrong?"
Chu Xi: "You didn't tell me that getting myself killed would derail the plot, and that I'd still have to help the protagonist follow the story and save the world!"
"...And have all the other characters gotten way too weird, too?"
