The Clouds Adrift is an excellent fantasy farming game set in ancient times. Even during its closed beta, it won widespread acclaim from players.
The thousands of reviews all boiled down to one thing: a variety of gameplay.
But Ruan Fu had picked Clouds Adrift for its romanceable NPCs.
Out of the twelve main NPCs, she took one look at the one hiding in the farthest corner and chose him. He was also, by unanimous agreement among all the players, the hardest one to win over.
To win him over, Ruan Fu gave up the wealth and status she could have gained by pursuing the other NPCs. She devoted herself to starting from scratch and farming faithfully from beginning to end.
She tried every method and gave him every gift. It took a full year of real time before she finally figured out what he liked and raised his affection to the maximum.
At last, they got married, making her the only player to reach the marriage stage with him.
Ruan Fu expected married life to bring her delightful surprises. But that certain someone remained just as he had always been, cooped up in his room, sleeping the day away.
Ruan Fu: Fine.
Luckily, the game system was considerate. You could get married, and you could get divorced too.
She promptly divorced him and pursued all eleven of the other NPCs. But even then, she couldn't let go of her first love. She raised his affection all over again, remarried him twice, and divorced him twice more.
By the end, Ruan Fu had grown bored of the game and decided to leave it for good. After writing a long post titled "The Character Development for a Certain Character Is Not Player-Friendly at All," she went to bed.
When she opened her eyes again, she had arrived in the world of Clouds Adrift.
There were the eleven NPCs whose affection she had raised to within a few hearts of the maximum, and her handsome ex-husband, whom she had married three times and was currently divorced from.
Ruan Fu: "..."
Great. Just kill me.
Theme: In this life, live for yourself.
