The Enchantress Consort Reborn

[Not abandoning this story, updates will be slow. Best to let chapters build up.]

Wei Yang spent her whole life as a villain.

She entered the palace at fifteen and became a noble consort at seventeen.

In a short time, she had the emperor wrapped around her finger inside the palace, while the Wei clan threw its weight around and acted with impunity beyond its walls.

She was condemned by the world and cursed by millions.

The newly appointed censor, Jiang Hengli, was incorruptible and Wei Yang's sworn enemy. The faction of upright officials seized on the Wei clan's misdeeds, and Jiang Hengli personally went before the emperor, submitting one memorial after another to expose their crimes.

All 1,361 members of the Wei family were thrown into prison, exiled, or banished. From then on, the Wei clan fell into decline.

Wei Yang was sentenced to death by burning.

On the day she died, officials from across the court gathered at Wumen Gate to watch, clapping and laughing.

After the execution, everyone dispersed.

But one man walked up to the execution platform, knelt, and gathered Wei Yang's ashes. He carried them out of the palace and buried her with his own hands. After that, he resigned from office and vanished among the common people.

Reborn, Wei Yang met Jiang Hengli again.

She remembered that in her previous life he had also been alone, rising step by step to become the most virtuous censor in the Censorate.

In this life, she was seven years old when she stood before him. In an innocent voice, the little girl asked, "If the current emperor has been bewitched by an evil consort, shouldn't we kill that woman?"

She thought,

She had prepared a dagger sharp enough to cut through iron. Once he answered, she would kill him.

He was an upright official who hated evil, ruthless toward others and even more ruthless toward himself. He could not tolerate a woman who threw the court into chaos.

She thought she would hear him give an unequivocal answer.

Instead, he said, "What crime has a woman committed?"

Nation-ruining wicked consort vs. incorruptible, upright official

#You hated me so much, yet why, before the condemnation of thousands, did you gather my remains?

Why resign and go into hiding, keeping a lamp burning for me for the rest of your life?#
