After dying from overwork, Yongzheng was reborn in the modern era. He thought he would live out the rest of his life in peace and comfort, but an accident sent him back to the moment he'd just ascended the throne. He also gained a golden finger that let him hear other people's thoughts.
He thought Heaven had sent him back to make amends for the century of modern humiliation brought upon China by the Qing Dynasty, but this Qing Dynasty seemed a little different from the one he remembered.
Empress Ulanara had been reborn as Wu Zhao, the Great Sage and Divine Empress. She wanted to kill him and take his place, restoring the Zhou Dynasty.
Noble Consort Nian had been possessed by a holy maiden from a cultivation sect. She wanted to drain the dragon energy from his body and return to the cultivation world.
Consort Xi, Niohuru, was a modern woman who had transmigrated, armed with a System. All she wanted was for him to die as soon as possible so she could become Empress Dowager and rule from behind the curtain.
And then there were Consort Qi, Concubine Yu, Concubine Mao, and the rest. Each had her own story, and none of them was easy to deal with.
The entire imperial harem was like a bubbling pot of porridge, lively to say the least.
But every single one of them had bad intentions toward him.
Yinzhen: "...Am I a romance-game target or something? They either want my kidneys or my life. Is there no one who doesn't have an ulterior motive?"
As it turned out, there was someone without an ulterior motive. But looking at the weasel spirit before him, which had been struck down into the Qing Dynasty after failing to gain a human's blessing and had inadvertently become his spirit pet, Yongzheng fell silent as it stared at him in terror.
...Fine. It may not be human, but at least this little demon looks rather pleasant in human form. Better than nothing!
Yongzheng did his best to console himself and be grateful for what he had.
But when he saw that this timid little demon cowered in front of him, yet spent all day hovering around his enemies, calling each of them "sister" with great familiarity, Yongzheng got angry.
Was he really that unpopular with this little demon?
Huang Feng's perspective:
After cultivating diligently for several hundred years, Huang Feng, a weasel spirit just one step away from becoming an immortal, was stuck at the final stage for decades and couldn't ascend, thanks to a law forbidding spirits from attaining human form after the founding of the country.
With no other options, she had to take an unorthodox path and ask a human to confer a title upon her, hoping to attain the rank of an earthly immortal.
But perhaps this angered Heaven. A bolt of lightning struck her down into the Qing Dynasty, where she accidentally formed a master-servant contract with Yongzheng and became his spirit pet.
What's more, his dragon energy harmed her as a demon. The longer she stayed with him, the weaker she became.
Huang Feng: "Boohoo, is this Heaven's punishment for asking a human to confer a title on me without permission?"
Huang Feng was utterly dejected, thinking her life was over. But then she accidentally discovered that absorbing the strange energies surrounding the concubines in the imperial harem could help her cultivate.
Huang Feng, who had nearly given up hope, immediately brightened up. Looking at the harem full of beauties with every kind of figure, she was positively dizzy with excitement.
Had she come to paradise?
