The Great Shun Dynasty was in turmoil for twenty years, but at last a new emperor took the throne.
On the eve of the Little New Year, Shen Sizheng, a female commander in Qingzhou City, celebrated her birthday. Su Wan, a merchant's daughter, and others gathered to celebrate with her.
These women, hardened by years of war, were free-spirited, passionate, and full of laughter.
Using her birthday as an excuse, they happily looked forward to the peaceful and prosperous age soon to come.
At the same time, an imperial decree personally issued by the Empress Dowager was being rushed to the provincial governor's office. The decree was simple: select beauties for the new emperor and fill the palace harem.
The wheels of fate began turning once more. Dreams, love, friendship, marriage, family, political schemes...
They would be swept up in it all.
What path would they choose?
It would mean challenges and choices, as well as growth and awakening that would remake them, body and soul, time and again.
