#First-person blurb, third-person story#
The first year after I crossed over, I was completely at a loss. By chance, I used my encyclopedic knowledge of the plot as a loyal reader to claim kinship with Xie Ying, a minor male character in the book.
I told him I was the younger sister he'd spent years searching for, and recited every detail of our supposed past as siblings.
He believed me. Sure enough, he treasured me and wanted to give me everything he had.
He was the kindest person in the world to me.
So even though secretly changing the plot made my health deteriorate, I still wanted to give him a happy ending.
Not the miserable fate in the original novel, where he devoted himself to the heroine and ended up dead without a body to bury.
Unfortunately, in my sixth year after crossing over, Xie Ying finally learned that his sister had died long ago. I was just a fraud who had stolen her identity.
He kept me locked up for a long time.
On a winter day when heavy snow was falling, he sent someone to take my life.
With only a door between us, the gongs and drums rang out in celebration. I lay in the snow, blood pouring from the sword wound in my chest.
Only then did I remember that this was the joyous day of Xie Ying's wedding to Zhao Mingyue, the original novel's heroine.
And this was also the last thing I had carefully arranged for him before I died.

Later, sitting at my computer, I opened the novel called The Noble Lady Mingyue again.
I suddenly noticed that Xie Ying's name had moved from the supporting character list to the male lead list, and the comments section was full of long arguments.
"Is the author brain-dead? What kind of writing is this? I only have one question after reading: does the male lead love the heroine even a fraction as much as he loves his fake sister?"
"Xie Ying, you can fool us, but don't fool yourself. How many times have you had wicked thoughts about that scheming woman? Can you even count?"
"This is a first. I've never seen a male lead dismember his wife for a villainous impostor. Is this ending a joke? That's not how you subvert expectations!"
So I opened the novel again and read it from the beginning.
Afterward, my whole worldview shattered.
Worse still, I discovered that the story was still marked "ongoing."
And the "me" in the book, because Xie Ying had cut open my chest to take my blood and kept me alive in a deranged attempt to prolong my life, still hadn't quite died...
Me: "...?"
I can't be in love with him anymore.
Mom, help! I've run into a crazy yandere, ahhhhhhh!
