Infrastructure Reigns Supreme

On her third day after her soul traveled into a parallel world, the general practitioner Gu Yu was kicked out by her deadbeat father and left to fend for herself, with a blind, lame husband thrown in for good measure.

Starting situation: a poor, remote village known far and wide for its bleakness. This was all Gu Yu had. It was a bit run-down and so poor that the wind whistled through her pockets, but at least she had a roof over her head. As for her disabled husband, or rather, her live-in son-in-law, perhaps he could still be of use if she treated him.

In this chaotic era, where even a young man could head a household, Gu Yu built a fortified homestead, carved out terraced fields, made syrup, and started a business. Her husband defended their home and country. Together, the couple built an era of peace and prosperity.

Shi Yu had lived for twenty-three years, and for the first time felt his heart flutter. It was all because of an alien.

For the first time in his life, Shi Yu became a fanboy. His idol was the insectoid Ifel, a major interstellar star.

Shi Yu spent his entire fortune and crossed a vast sea of stars to travel to a distant planet for Fels's farewell concert.

After the concert, Shi Yu was invited backstage to meet his idol face-to-face.

Ifel: "Sir, you shouldn't have smuggled yourself out of the Empire's star territory."

Shi Yu stared in confusion: What? Had his real-time translator broken? What did "sir" mean? And what was this about smuggling?
