Words from the Heart

[Complete] -Cold, aloof female assassin x sweet, honest gentleman- When Yingshi was ten, her father was convicted of a crime and her entire family was sentenced to execution. Though she narrowly escaped, she became an assassin forced to live in the shadows. Years later, she returns to Tingzhou, ordered to assassinate the newly appointed prefect. Beneath the Mandarin Duck Tower, a fine drizzle falls. When the dark blue curtain of the sedan chair below is lifted, she sees a face that is still somewhat familiar. She remembers that she, too, once had an arranged marriage. Her betrothed was two months younger than her and cried easily. His surname was Lu, his given name Yuwu, and his courtesy name Qiurong. "The Occasional Notes of Qiurong" “Autumn, the sixth year of Jianhong, the fifteenth day of the eighth month. The Zhou family suffered a great calamity. Father did not dare to collect his friend's body for burial, so I used my New Year's money to help, and buried all thirteen members of the Zhou family. Yingshi was not among them.” “Autumn, the seventh year of Jianhong, the fifteenth day of the eighth month. The moon above is full, but here below, nothing is ever quite complete. I wonder where Yingshi is, whether she has eaten, whether she is safe.” “Autumn, the eighth year of Jianhong, the fifteenth day of the eighth month. It's Mid-Autumn Festival again. Yingshi is not here.” “Autumn, the ninth year of Jianhong, the fifteenth day of the eighth month. Yingshi is not here.” … “Summer, the third year of Yongjia, the eleventh day of the seventh month. It's raining in the plum season. At last, I've seen Yingshi again. I'm going to take her home.” “Though mountains and rivers stretch for thousands of miles, only our hearts are one.” Set in a fictional world, with an official system modeled on the Ming dynasty.
