After losing his memory, the straight man said he didn't like men. In truth, it was love at first sight.
A world with spirit forms and anomalous entities.
Yang Yi, a former amnesiac executive agent, vs. Ke Nian, a genius former investigator
When Yang Yi was taken away on that rainy night, his worst-case scenario was dying in the underground city before he could recover his memories.
But then Ke Nian said, "Brother, I want him."
The next day, Ke Xingyuan shoved a contract at him, hiring him to work for his younger brother, Ke Nian.
Yang Yi ran through several possible versions of the contract in his head, never imagining it would be a perfectly legitimate contract that complied with District Nine's contract law.
Suspecting he was about to sign away his freedom, Yang Yi refused to look at it.
Ke Xingyuan, tired of waiting, rapped his knuckles on the table. "What are you thinking about? This is a proper contract."
"What if I refuse?"
Ke Xingyuan smiled and pointed out the window. "Then you'll go right back to the underground city."
Once you went back to the underground city, there was almost no chance of returning to the urban district.
To survive and complete his mission, Yang Yi finally signed his name on the line.
Ke Xingyuan gathered up both copies of the contract, satisfied.
Then, as if something had just occurred to him, he added uncertainly, "And your sexual orientation?"
Yang Yi gritted his teeth. "...I don't like men."
Worried that someone might steal his precious little brother away, Ke Xingyuan left in peace.
Some time later, Ke Nian recovered his spirit form and returned to the Investigation Center as an investigator. Yang Yi recovered his memories and became the executive agent assigned to protect Ke Nian.
The two were assigned to work together on a long-unsolved case.
Strangely, when news of them emerged, it was in the entertainment sections of gossip papers across every district.
The executive agent from the Central District, returned from the dead, and the genius investigator are suspected of having an improper agreement.
Can showing off your relationship defeat anomalous entities?
When Ke Xingyuan heard the news, he immediately went looking for a few pieces of paper he'd long since misplaced. He opened them again, still unsure.
I remember drafting a proper contract!
Bonus scene:
Only after getting together with Yang Yi did Ke Nian realize:
Straight men only put on a little show when they flirt. All that maturity and stability was an act.
