The Witch Starts as a Baby

[Western fantasy story about raising a child]

Salia was eighteen when she learned that her godmother was a witch.

Tiramisu shaped like mice was a treat she'd eaten since childhood;

Inky-black magical potions were the running water in their home;

Bats served as carrier pigeons, gravestones didn't have crosses, and clothes couldn't be embroidered with pink roses.

But in the year she turned eighteen, Salia cast magic for the first time

It became daylight.

Her talent was for light magic.

On the magical continent, light and darkness are not opposites. For most people, they complement and accompany each other. But many years ago, the Grand Archbishop of Light and the witches fell out, and from then on the witches left the city-states with all the followers of dark magic.

From that time onward, dark magic could only be found deep in the forest.

The continent lost its shadows, and people seemed to float in midair.

Until one day, the continent's only Light Witch cast a spell and restored everything to normal.

And so, people came to call her the sun from the forest.

The real Salia: Mom just taught me to do it this way QAQ

Salia had always been afraid that her mother would abandon her once she found out Salia had light magic.

Until one day, a believer asked this question.

"Respected Witch, why do you tolerate such a filthy and useless girl of light staying in the forest?"

"Useless?" Her godmother wore a formal gown. Beneath the wide brim of her hat, her expression was proud and aloof. "Salia is not a useless little girl."

"She can bake the most delicious little cakes in the world."
