On the surface, she was obedient and sweet. In reality, she was just looking to tease him. "I heard you've never dated anyone. Want to try dating me?"
Bai Xiangwen had no idea she'd gotten the relatives to force drinks on him at the wedding. He thought she was a sweet, well-behaved girl, so when he heard her bold words, he found them hard to accept. "We're family and friends. If things don't work out between us, won't it be awkward when we see each other afterward?"
She pressed her lips together, trying not to bare her fangs. "Someone's been pursuing me lately. I've rejected him several times, but I can't get rid of him. Since you don't want to be my boyfriend, you owe me one. You have to pretend to be my boyfriend and help me send him packing."
He was easygoing about it and agreed with a nod.
She was the one everyone considered a good girl. So why did she think he was so obedient?

She accompanied him as he searched for his roots. When he learned the truth about what had happened back then, he cried.
Watching him cry, she started crying too, since she was easily moved to tears.
He said, "Do they think I'm some unfortunate, filthy, lowly thing? Is that why they treated me this way?"
Later, she gave him a white cat pillow. "I heard white cats symbolize good fortune, purity, and nobility. I'm giving it to you. Hold it while you sleep at night. Now that it has a home, you can pretend you have one too."
He held her close and said, "Can I build a home with you?"
