I'm Living in the Future You Once Imagined

When Qin Shanyi received the breakup message, he was just about to call Chen Que.

He wanted to tell him that he had finally been confirmed for a promotion. Next month, he could move to Chen Que's city and end their three years of long-distance separation.

But before Chen Que could hear the good news, he calmly broke up with him. "Shanyi, let's end things here. There's no point forcing it anymore."

"But I got promoted. I can come see you next month. We can rent a little place together, just like we did in college..."

He had worked himself to the bone, taking on every job at the company that others were unwilling to do, all so he could get promoted and transferred to Chen Que's city, stay by his side, and hold on to the love he hoped would last a lifetime.

But Chen Que hadn't waited for him.

"Shanyi, there's someone I like."

Only after hanging up did he belatedly realize that Chen Que had called him by his real name, Shanyi, instead of the nickname he'd been used to hearing for years: Yiyi.
