Everyone in the Huan dynasty, from court officials to commoners, knew that the emperor and empress were "at odds." Here's what that looked like:
The emperor clamored to choose consorts every day,
while the empress called for a divorce every day.
The problem was, in the hundreds of years since the dynasty's founding, no emperor and empress had ever divorced!
So the palace was treated to all kinds of farces every day.
One day, the empress discovered that her limited-edition lipstick was missing. The emperor had taken it to use for his vermilion comments.
The next day, the emperor discovered that his prized koi had vanished. The empress had replaced them with crucian carp, grass carp, common carp...
In the end, they had two sons and a daughter, the imperial harem was little more than an empty formality, and even after death, they were buried together in the same coffin.
The court officials: This is hard to judge.

Who could have guessed that when they opened their eyes again, the emperor and empress had both been reborn as little children in Yuxi Village, Ningyuan County?
Their homes were close to each other, and their parents had been friends for years. Word was, the families even planned to become in-laws.
The reborn Empress Ji Xiao: You can't hang yourself from the same crooked tree.
She went straight to her former husband, who was still shorter than she was, intending to make him back down.
After Ji Xiao rattled on for ages, she saw the delicate little boy before her remain unmoved and couldn't help giving him a smack on the back!
He promptly tumbled into the field ditch...
Her parents, hurrying over behind her, were horrified:
Even if you're arguing, you can't resort to domestic violence!
Ji Xiao, more wronged than Dou E: I really just gave him a casual smack...
A fiery, hot-tempered noblewoman, even more short-tempered after being reborn x A devoted emperor, even more scheming and doting on his wife after being reborn
