The story is from the pursuer's point of view. Don't get that wrong.
The pursuer is genuinely clearheaded from start to finish, and only wants to become famous and climb higher.
He works as an actor in the early chapters, then accepts the pursued's investment and becomes a director.
In his previous life, a big shot took a liking to Yi Ke and plainly told him that if he agreed, the man would give him resources and make him famous. He also promised to give him over a million in spending money regularly, with cars, houses, and gifts on top. But Yi Ke held firm to his principles, preferring obscurity to giving in. After eight years in the entertainment industry, he was still a nobody, and when he left the industry, no one even cared.
And then? Nothing tragic happened. After he quietly left show business, his family's old courtyard back home was demolished. They received compensation for five apartments and two storefronts. The apartments in a small county town weren't worth as much as those in a big city, but as a landlord, he could live comfortably for the rest of his life. Suddenly, his life was perfect.
He wakes up one day back at age twenty-one, the day he tore up the contract.
Yi Ke: “Where's the contract? Print me another copy so I can read it carefully! A pen! Hurry up and find me a pen! I'm done with an ordinary, wealthy life!”
Yi Ke sends the first payment he gets straight to his father and calls him. “Dad! Let's add three more floors to our courtyard house. We're doing it this year! What? You're worried people will object? Whoever objects, we'll buy their house! We'll buy every last one!”
A kept man? What do you mean, a kept man? This is a bonus on the road to chasing my dream!
After everything is settled, Yi Ke says, “Why didn't you tell me sooner that I was supposed to be the pursuer! If you'd told me, I wouldn't have spent my previous life muttering about it to myself for eight years! Don't say another word! It's all your fault! I've suffered so much! How about this: give me the male lead in a TV series and the second male lead in a movie, and I'll cheer myself up!”
A youthful, ambitious pursuer who has no worries because he knows his hometown property will be demolished
A ruthless, thrill-seeking, promiscuous, possessive, muscular pursued
Warnings!! Major warnings!!!! Read these warnings carefully!! The following is a very long list of warnings!!
Both the pursuer and the pursued are hard to put up with. They really will fight until each other's heads are bleeding, and both will fight back. Neither is a virgin. Those who are strictly against the pursuer or the pursued having previous partners should skip this. It won't be good for anyone otherwise.
Pursuer's POV, younger pursuer, eight-year age gap. Pursuer is 185 cm, pursued is 188 cm. The pursued is a muscular big shot, taller and bulkier than the pursuer. His pecs make you want to call him “Mommy.” He's built like a double-door fridge with a tight waist, but he's the one who gets topped. I just want to write a huge, muscular bottom. Let me be, I'm letting loose.
The pursuer's dream is to become a major celebrity. Otherwise, he'll just go back home and collect rent, so he wouldn't care about any contract. That's why nothing happened between the pursuer, who stayed obscure in his previous life, and the pursued.
The pursuer is completely straight and will fight with the pursued. He has a bad temper and can tolerate a little, but not a lot. Falling in love with the pursued later doesn't mean he's turned gay. If he breaks up with the pursued, he'll find a girlfriend. Of course, the pursued would never agree to break up.
To become famous, the pursuer will use all the usual tricks of the entertainment industry: snatch resources and sell a carefully crafted public image. In public, though, he always puts on a good act, playing an innocent, cheerful, healthy young man. His fans will say, “Our brother is so innocent. We have to protect him!”
Before getting together with the pursuer, the pursued is attracted to both men and women, and has a fiancée. He will break off the engagement later. At first, he treats the pursuer as his “private property.” He has a bad temper and will get into fights with the pursuer. Once he falls in love, he gradually becomes submissive, but only in front of the pursuer. Later, he becomes such a love-struck fool that people will suspect he has been put under a spell. He is the sort of possessive, villainous personality who will give the pursuer anything he wants, but will also install surveillance cameras, listening devices, and tracking software to monitor him.
They're a case of each pot finding its lid. Neither expected to find love, yet somehow love still found them. What a load of crap.
I've written so many warnings. If anyone still gets blindsided, all I can do is shrug helplessly.
I'm writing what I want to read and letting myself go. I won't accept writing advice or judgments about my character. A character's values are not the author's values! Let's say no to unspoken rules, being kept, and all kinds of unfair treatment!
Finally, the cover uses a template, though it's not the only one. I paid a small amount, not really, to commission the character art as a line drawing. I think it looks a lot like what I imagined, with a very youthful feel.
