The Food-Obsessed Daily Life of a Second-Generation Cultivator

Ning Wan was a food fanatic. She would pore over countless sources and try again and again to recreate ancient dishes. She died of food poisoning at the age of twenty-eight.

Reborn, she became the daughter of an elder in some obscure sect in the cultivation world. Her original body had water and fire spiritual roots that clashed, leaving her with no hope of cultivation. She gave up and became a notorious spoiled rich kid of the sect.

Ning Wan flipped through the sect's library copy of A Complete Guide to Demonic Beasts and Spirit Plants, drooling. She wondered how the giant-armored rhino meat tasted. The long-tailed pheasant would probably be delicious braised in soy sauce, simmered, or stewed in soup. And how should she cook the silver-glue fish from the cold pool to preserve its natural freshness?

To enjoy even better food, she racked her brains, made bold guesses, and carefully experimented until she finally solved her cultivation problem. To deal with ingredients that tasted delicious but were poisonous, Ning Wan trained hard in alchemy. To slice meat thin as a cicada's wing, she trained hard in swordsmanship, becoming even more like a sword cultivator than the sword cultivators themselves. To master the heat, she studied all kinds of talismans and even came up with new ways to use them. To try other cooking methods, she took up refining artifacts herself.

Years later, a new disciple who had come to join the Tianyuan Sect after hearing of its fame worked like an ox to earn enough contribution points. The first thing he did was head to the library and exchange them for The Tianyuan Record, a cultivation guide said to have been passed down by Immortal Chang Geng.

He opened the first page and was immediately impressed:

Mountain pheasant: A low-grade demonic beast. It is good at running and releases small, irregular gusts of wind when flying low. Catch it with a net. Suitable for eating...

There was also a long list of preparation methods and precautions. It looked just like a cookbook.

What the heck!
