Wen Chi was drinking with a friend when the man cried until he could barely speak. "Shi'an has been gone for a week. Could she have decided she doesn't want me because of my leg injury...? You have to help me ask her!"

Wen Chi tipped his head back and downed a glass, reassuring him. "Little Aunt isn't like that. Don't worry, I'll go back and talk to her."

It was the dead of night, and rain poured in sheets.

Someone opened Wen Shi'an's door. She sat up, huddling beneath her blanket.

Recognizing the familiar scent of cologne, tears ran down her unfocused eyes. She pleaded softly, "Wen Chi, I did what you told me and stopped contacting him. How is his leg? Please don't hurt him anymore, all right?"

Lightning flashed, and Wen Chi's face was half-lit, half-shadowed. His expression was unreadable.

He climbed onto the bed and slowly stroked Wen Shi'an's hand.

"If your eyes can't see, then don't cry for another man."

Wen Chi kissed Wen Shi'an's unfocused eyes. His voice was as cold as ice in her bones. "If you want him to stay safe, divorce him."
