The Long Rainy Season

A plot-driven story

The year Shen Lizhi turned twenty-two, a disheveled homeless man stabbed him to death in the street. When he woke up, he was back in class at fifteen.

The new transfer student stood at the front of the classroom. She was his desk mate for three years, the girl he'd had a crush on for years: Luo Yin.

He followed the timeline of the past, only to discover by chance that many things were different between the past he knew and the present he was reliving.

For instance, the way Luo Yin looked at him every time. For instance, the rusty clock in the abandoned mall kept moving. For instance, Luo Yin, whom he remembered as a coward, boldly took his hand.

“Lizhi, do you know? This is the seventh time we've met for the first time.”

“Lizhi, this time, I will save you.”

The year Shen Lizhi turned twenty-two, he lay in Luo Yin's arms, covered in blood. He watched a familiar figure disappear into the crowd as the distant clock tower chimed.

“But Luo Yin, don't save me again.”

“Luo Yin, please, don't go back to the past.”
