Boss, Give Me a Little Something

[A semi-fictionalized Republic of China setting, the 1920s]

[Only son of a shipping magnate X a frail early filmmaker]

After years adrift, Yi Qingchen returned to China with the machine he had rescued from a storm, ready to make a name for himself.

Making films required film stock. Buying film stock required money.

He had no money.

Without money, he had to find investors.

The man he had in mind was Lian Mengsheng,

son of a shipping magnate, rich and well-connected. He was perfect for the job.

The only problem was that Young Master Lian looked like trouble.

It was only natural for an industrial bigwig to look down on an artist. Yi Qingchen rose to the challenge, and ended up rising all the way to...

Lian Mengsheng's home.

Young Master Lian held his chin and smiled:

“Merchants have always been faithless when profit is at stake. Aren't you afraid I'll change my mind, Young Master Yi?”

Yi Qingchen gritted his teeth and met his gaze:

“A deal's a deal, Boss Lian. Besides, investing isn't easy money these days.”

1. Happy ending. Both have had exes, but once the story begins, it's one-on-one. The characters all have flaws, so read with care if that bothers you.

2. Some details are historically researched, others are fictionalized. Please don't scrutinize the historical elements.

Theme: Patriotism and dedication to one's work
