Don't defy fate for your own selfish desires. The only possible ending is a return to the beginning.

Ollie Brand, a rookie investigator in the small town of St. Mance, is looking into the source of the town's pollution when he meets the orphaned descendant of an old enemy of his family. The orphan's farewell letter gives him a revelation.
He enters a mysterious game.
[The Gate of Rebirth]
Here, there are terrifying monsters, brain-twisting puzzles, bizarre and uncanny stories,
and players with hidden agendas...
Across one instance after another, he first uncovers the truth about his family, hailed as the town's heroes...
A mysterious meteorite, strange cases, and...
The heart inside the meteorite.
Each instance leads Ollie one step closer to the truth.
An orphan who returned from the dead, a mysterious team, companions who face danger together,
and an artificial god.
Ollie Brand
Is he a lamb caught up in a life-or-death game in the hands of the gods, or a piece already positioned on a believer's game board...

No CP, but feel free to ship whoever you like. I don't mind.
(Note: No CP here means the male and female leads aren't romantically paired. There are still married couples and lovers in the story.)
The male and female leads have a platonic relationship. The female lead is unconventional, slightly villainous and a bit of a delinquent.
Warning: The male lead has a slight lucky-guy, Mary Sue-esque quality. If you can't accept that, please leave now, or you might get struck by lightning.
The male lead is an upstanding, genuinely good person, but a little naive at first.
Warnings for Lovecraftian elements, [censored], and urban legends, among other things. Almost everything is made up for this story, so don't get hung up on the details.

++++I'm a new writer trying out a new story. Please don't flame me if you don't like it.
There's no logic and no brains here. I might forget what I wrote earlier as I go along.
I might miss a lot of details and foreshadowing, and there's a very good chance I'll forget the plot threads I set up in earlier chapters. If I forget them, I probably won't resolve them.
In short, please bear with me. This is just the product of me going wild, and there's no technical skill to speak of.
If you can accept that, then okay.
