I Didn't Know My Brother Was My Husband

The day her elder brother succeeded in his rebellion, Zhan Yan lost her sight.

After she became blind, she grew sharp-tempered and irritable, flying into a rage at the slightest thing. The two people who had once depended on each other grew increasingly estranged.

At last, after a fierce argument, Zhan Yan decided to leave the palace and marry.

Her elder brother married her off to a mute man.

Zhan Yan thought that one blind and one mute made a rather fitting pair.

Her husband couldn't speak, but he was considerate and treated her wonderfully.

He smelled of sandalwood, knew all her likes and dislikes, and held her tightly in his arms, soothing her all night whenever she broke down crying.

He was nothing like her elder brother.

With him by her side, Zhan Yan gradually recovered from her pain. She was also lucky enough to meet a miracle-working doctor, and her sight returned.

On the day she saw the world again, she wanted to surprise her husband, but was astonished to find her estranged elder brother in her home.

She turned to leave, but he grabbed her.

Gently and deftly, he wrote on her palm: "What's wrong?"

Smelling the familiar sandalwood on him, Zhan Yan's eyes widened. "Why are you here? Where is my husband?"

Her elder brother's expression turned strange. "Did you think I'd let you marry someone else?"
