Married Off to the Deposed Crown Prince

After her childhood sweetheart and betrothed died in battle, Yun Shu was found by her birth parents and made to take her twin sister's place in a marriage to Li Du, the deposed crown prince.

Li Du was handsome and noble, with an air of refined elegance. Unfortunately, he had lost his position as heir, become bitter and cruel, and was now crippled.

Because the deposed crown prince's face bore a striking resemblance to her late betrothed's, Yun Shu agreed to the substitute marriage.

In the secluded compound where he was confined, she stayed by his side as he treated his injured legs and encouraged him to rise again.

Later, the deposed crown prince ascended the throne, and Yun Shu was made empress. Two days before the coronation ceremony, she returned to visit her family, where her sister demanded they switch identities back.

At the same time, Yun Shu unexpectedly learned that her betrothed was still alive.

Weighing her options, Yun Shu chose to return to her betrothed and resume the engagement they had never fulfilled.

But on their wedding day, a contingent of imperial guards surrounded their home.

The emperor held a sharp blade, his gaze icy. "Does the empress intend to marry someone else?"

The male lead's perspective

After losing his position as crown prince, Li Du was assigned a bride.

With both legs crippled, he had no interest in anything in this world, including the wife who had been forced upon him.

But she was bright and considerate, and her gaze toward him was tender and ardent.

He thought that for her sake, he would have to live on and reclaim everything that belonged to him.

Later, he became emperor and made her empress at once. But he unexpectedly discovered that all her kindness toward him was only because he somewhat resembled her former betrothed.

So when she learned her betrothed was still alive, she ran straight back to him and left the emperor with a counterfeit in her place.

Fine. Just fine.
