Just after Li Ge transmigrated, someone came after her. But she wasn't their target. They were after Liu Jin, the Crown Prince beside her.

Other people transmigrated into the home of a wealthy family as young ladies, or into the imperial palace as pampered consorts. She, on the other hand, was filthy and trapped in a ruined temple with an equally filthy Liu Jin, unable to get out.

She looked at Liu Jin beside her, badly wounded but undeniably beautiful. She had assumed he was the cold and aloof type, but he unexpectedly spoke to her first. "Don't be afraid. They won't do anything to you."

Li Ge replied, "I know."

Liu Jin was surprised. "You know?"

Li Ge said, "Of course! They're not after me, they're after you. So I'm not afraid at all."

Liu Jin: "..."

That night, they planned their escape. They managed to get away right under their pursuers' noses, only to be chased again. They reached the edge of a cliff with a river below and nowhere left to go. Liu Jin jumped right in front of her. Li Ge's eyes widened in shock.

The next time they met was in the library of the Confucian academy. One night, Liu Jin climbed in through a window to sneak a roast chicken, only to be discovered by Li Ge. With his secret exposed, he covered her mouth and sternly warned her not to tell anyone he liked roast chicken. Li Ge nodded, agreeing. Her reward was a chicken leg to eat.

She thought to herself, "He looks so respectable, but who knew he was such a goofy simpleton?"

So Liu Jin's first impression in her mind was that he was a silly deer, an honest man with a good temper.

Until one day, he killed someone in front of her in full view of the crowd, completely overturning her impression of him. Even more frighteningly, after that day Liu Jin took the initiative and confessed his feelings to her.

"What are you here for?"

"I'm taking you up to the city wall to watch the stars." He took her hand and led her up. Li Ge gazed at the night sky and pointed to a spot. "What's that?"

Liu Jin said, "The Big Dipper."

"Where? I can't see it."

Their eyes suddenly met, and the atmosphere turned inexplicably intimate. He asked, "May I kiss you?" Before Li Ge could answer, he kissed her deeply.
