When Su Qian was fifteen, her adoptive father died. Surrounded by wolves with ill intentions, she should have breathed her last, but clung stubbornly to life to protect the family business and her little brother. Though she was frail and sickly, needing help even to sit up in bed, and had already lost every shred of dignity, she still held on...
Stay alive. At least until Qin'er grows up...
Day after day, she gritted her teeth and endured the hellish days. She couldn't stomach so much as a drop of oil or salt. Su Qian had forgotten every taste but bitterness, until a clear-featured doctor arrived with a letter and knocked on the Su family's door.
"He" was forthright and free-spirited, with formidable martial arts skills. As radiant as the spring sun, "he" swept away the gloom from the household. Everyone hoped "he" would stay. But when Su Qian went to great lengths to seize the doctor's hand in the dark of night, when no one else was around, she received only this reply: "Miss Su, there's no need to do this... Once the snow has melted, I will leave."
Looking down at the half of her arm she'd deliberately exposed, Su Qian smiled, filled with self-loathing. She no longer knew what she had left, but for Qin'er's sake, and to fulfill her adoptive father's dying wish, none of it mattered.
But when she saw her little brother's body and the ancestral hall burning fiercely, the last flame in Su Qian's heart went out.
She wanted to die.

Song Muyan travels the martial world with her exceptional medical and martial arts skills. Having witnessed death since childhood, she understands better than anyone that life and death cannot be forced, and that when a person's heart has died, no treatment can help.
Life is so fragile. Yet when she saw the woman before her, so frail she seemed unable to withstand a breeze, bearing the burden of an entire household and still standing up to protect her family amid dangerous undercurrents, Song Muyan was deeply moved.
So, on the day she was about to leave, when she saw Su Qian, clothes in disarray, staggering toward the flames, Song Muyan broke her principles and rushed forward. "If you have nothing left to hold you to this world, then leave with me."
That snowy night, the famed physician-hero took on the most difficult task of her life.
Healing a heart.
- Physician-hero (gentle / cheerful / steadfast) x sickly beauty (weary of life / indifferent / cold-hearted)
- The physician-hero initially disguises herself as a man for convenience. The romance only begins after she reveals her identity to Su Qian, so don't worry.
- Plenty of frail-and-sickly interactions, with a healing theme.
- Set in the same world as The Princess's Shadow Guard Mustn't Be Too Clever.
- The story's survival depends on the number of bookmarks.
