[Ensemble cast | The male lead's unrequited love comes true]
Blurb:
All of Xia Man's most embarrassing moments in life have something to do with Shen Zhixian.
In her first year of college, the day after she turned down Shen Zhixian's confession, she saw him again in a lecture. Hiding her face behind a book, she crouched awkwardly as she tried to squeeze past him.
Shen Zhixian moved the book on the empty seat beside him. Just as she was about to sit down, the student behind her got there first.
He hurried to stop them and said, "Sorry, this seat is saved for my girlfriend."
She didn't dare sit down, but the teacher at the front had already looked over twice, so she could only sit under everyone's curious, gossipy stares.
In her fourth year, she traveled abroad alone for rehabilitation training, preparing for the qualifying competition six months later.
In her most bedraggled state, she ran into Shen Zhixian, as polished and elegant as ever.
Dressed in a suit, he gave her a polite nod. "Hello, Ms. Xia. I'm your interpreter for this trip to San Boli."
In her third year of graduate school, after narrowly missing out on the championship in several competitions, she decided to accept reality and let her family arrange a blind date.
The other person was an interpreter who was preparing to take up an overseas posting. After they married, she could go abroad with him.
She thought it might be nice to be with a stranger who knew nothing about her past.
On the day of the blind date, Shen Zhixian, whom she hadn't seen in years, took the seat across from her.
He gave her a slight nod and said courteously, "Hello, Ms. Xia. I'm your blind date, Shen Zhixian."

The new country's weather and customs were both difficult for Xia Man to get used to.
Her world seemed full of rejection, and she deeply regretted going abroad.
Once, she got into an argument with a classmate from her language school, and things escalated until they ended up at the police station. Shen Zhixian hurried over to get her out.
She sat on a chair, fuming as she waited for him to apologize, expecting the scene to play out. But after hearing what had happened, he, who was usually so calm and restrained, started arguing with the other person.
When they got home, she asked him what he had said.
As he dabbed at the cuts on her hand, he replied, "My wife is reasonable and knows how to behave. She didn't do anything wrong."
At that moment, she thought back to their first year of college. His confession hadn't been a prank. He had meant it.
The thought was absurd, and she quickly cast it aside.
Later, after returning to China and moving into a new home, Xia Man found an old book in Shen Zhixian's bookcase. Tucked inside was a love letter he should have given her during the summer after their final year of high school.
It began:
"To my dearest Xia Man, I hope this letter finds you well."

Throughout high school, the boldest thing Shen Zhixian ever did was sign Xia Man's school uniform at the graduation celebration and, indulging his own secret desire, write the three characters of his name over her heart.
