In the tenth year of Yuan'an, Shang Zhi lost both her parents. With nowhere else to turn, she traveled to the capital to seek refuge with her betrothed, Qin Huaiyuan, whom she had never met.
She thought she had found a safe haven, but instead she had walked into a den of wolves. The Qin family thought an orphan like her would bring them no advantage. Qin Huaiyuan pretended to be devoted to her, while secretly keeping a beautiful mistress, whom he planned to take as a concubine as soon as Shang Zhi married into the Qin family.
On their wedding day, the groom never came home all night, staying instead in his mistress's room. Shang Zhi sat by the dying candle all night, watching the darkness give way to dawn.
Having exhausted every last hope, Shang Zhi left a letter divorcing her husband and prepared to leave.
But as she turned a corner, she ran straight into a man's arms. Looking up at his peerless good looks, Shang Zhi blushed. Then her eyes flickered, and in an instant she changed her mind.
Shang Zhi: "Would you marry me?"
Prince Ning looked down at the young woman who had thrown herself right into his arms and smiled. "All right."

Lately, the Qin family had become the laughingstock of the entire capital because of an orphan girl.
The wife whom the Qin family's eldest son had married in a proper ceremony left him a letter divorcing him the very next day, then turned around and married the immensely powerful Prince Ning.
Dreading Prince Ning's influence, the Qin family's eldest son dared not complain and could only swallow the insult.
Shang Zhi quickly became the talk of the capital, nicknamed the woman who remarried faster than anyone in history.
Shang Zhi: "..."
A little scene:
Much later, Prince Ning gathered his precious darling in his arms and asked, as if casually, "If I hadn't happened to pass by the Qin residence back then, would you have married that man, Zhi Zhi?"
Shang Zhi was already used to her husband's occasional jealousy and bringing up the past. She soothed him with practiced ease. "Of course not. The Qin family thought they were marrying into a higher branch of the family tree. If I was going to marry someone, I'd marry someone more powerful than them, so they could see what it really means to marry up."
Prince Ning's expression darkened. "So if someone more powerful than me had passed by, you would have married him?"
Shang Zhi rolled her eyes, playing coy, until she felt a large hand beginning to slide around her waist. She hurriedly gave in. "Of course not. I fell in love with you at first sight, my husband. Marrying up was just a bonus."
Prince Ning was satisfied, but still pretended to be reserved. "I suspect you were just taken with my looks."
Reading guide:
1. The plot is probably going to be a melodramatic mishmash.
2. The male lead chases his wife after losing her, but she switches to a new male lead.
The Second Miss Yu Fakes Her Death and Gets Found Out
[1]
In her previous life, Yu Xizhi died of cancer. When she opened her eyes again, she had become the second young lady of the Yu family in the capital of the Yong'an Dynasty.
She also had a System. It told her that she could only truly survive in this world by completing her mission. If she failed, she would be erased.
The chosen one of this world was destined to die in an assassination three months later. Yu Xizhi's mission was to protect him by dying in his place.
If she succeeded, Yu Xizhi would receive a healthy body and live in this world with a brand-new identity.
Yu Xizhi had no choice but to complete the mission. To ensure she could successfully die in his place, she needed to accumulate ten thousand luck points, and the closer she became to Xie An, the more points she would earn.
From then on, determined to succeed in her fake death, Xizhi threw herself into scheming up ways to take advantage of Young General Xie and earn his luck points, with no way back.
Three months later, Yu Xizhi picked the perfect moment to step in front of Young General Xie and die in his place. She successfully gained a new identity and traveled wherever she pleased, carefree and at ease, forgetting everyone and everything in the capital.
Until one day, Young General Xie, his eyes red, blocked her way. He held on to Xizhi's hand and wouldn't let go, his voice hoarse. "I've been looking for you for a long time."
Behind Xie An stood two men, both watching her intently with complicated expressions.
Yu Xizhi looked at the three men before her: the person she had died in place of, her second brother, who had always treated her well, and the crown prince, whom she had always kept at a distance.
She wished she had eight legs so she could run away, and couldn't stop wishing she could sink into the ground.

After the ugly girl of the Yu family fell into the water and was rescued by Young General Xie, she began clinging to him. In the eyes of the people of the capital, one was the bright moon in the sky, while the other was mud in the dirt. The ugly girl of the Yu family was so shameless and delusional, always making a spectacle of herself.
But the Yu family's ugly girl had a face thicker than the city walls. No matter how coldly Young General Xie treated her, she kept throwing herself at him, and he couldn't get rid of her.
Xie An regretted that moment of weakness when he had rescued an ugly freak. From then on, he had no peace.
Wherever he went, Yu Xizhi followed like a little tail he couldn't shake, always muttering things he couldn't understand.
At first, Xie An found her irritating. But gradually, he got used to having her around. Sometimes he even thought that, aside from being a little ugly, Yu Xizhi wasn't so bad.
Until one day, Yu Xizhi, who had been following him, rushed in front of him without hesitation and took a sword meant for him.
Yu Xizhi fell in a pool of blood. In a daze, Young General Xie heard a soft chime:
"Ding! Congratulations, Miss Yu, your mission is complete~"
*
Everyone lamented that Yu Xizhi had died saving Young General Xie, but Xie An refused to believe it. Even as her body was placed in a coffin right before his eyes, he still clung to hope.
Half a year later, Xie An saw a woman on the street. She wore green, with bright, expressive eyes and skin like jade. Her face was nothing like the ugly girl of the Yu family.
Yet his eyes inexplicably reddened. Xie An had a feeling that the woman was Yu Xizhi.
