After Natalie’s seventh brother went mad too, she summoned a demon in the basement.
She offered her soul in exchange for summoning Leviathan, the keeper of Hell's gates recorded in ancient books. But the demon didn't want her soul. He already had the souls of all seven children in her family. He wanted something else.
"What do you want?" Natalie asked warily.
"I made a bet with Sariel." The demon wrinkled his nose as if he'd smelled something foul. "He says he has a perfect believer, his representative in the mortal world, who believes in all that nonsense about goodness and beauty. He says this believer will restore their former glory."
"So?"
"I want you to make him my believer." The demon roared with laughter. "I want him to kneel before me in devotion and call me his lord!"
Natalie agreed to his demand.
The angel's representative had golden hair, brilliant blue eyes, and a heart as kind as gold.
Because of her, that heart would suffer as he questioned his faith and despairingly turned his back on God.
But like every demon in every story, this demon had deceived her. What he demanded was far more precious, and would bring her far greater pain.
But it didn't matter. She had deceived the demon too.
Her wish had already come true from the very beginning.
He was the only thing in her impoverished childhood that belonged to her, the star she had plucked from the heavens. Even if he was a demon, he was her demon.
Mad beauty x silly demon
Reader's guide:
1. Natalie is Elizabeth, and Elizabeth is Natalie.
2. This story is set in a fictional world. A few real American place names and people are included to help readers feel immersed.
3. The heroine is loosely inspired by Lindsay Galvin and Barbara Wolst. Both are far better people than my heroine; I have only borrowed a little from their experiences.
I have a little of this novel written ahead, but I've been really busy lately, so I'll post one chapter every Tuesday through Friday at 6 p.m. If things get less hectic, I may post more chapters~
