My Little Sister Is Pretending to Be Good Again

The little beggar Yang'er had no one to rely on. As far back as she could remember, she'd never had a full meal or worn a new set of clothes. To survive, she had cheated and tricked people, bowed her head and swallowed her pride.

Until the Prince of Jin's household claimed her as one of their own.

From then on, she had a new name and a new identity. They called her a princess, and Prince of Jin Chi Zhen called her Yangyang.

In the manor, she was surrounded by fine horses, luxurious clothes, and a crowd of servants.

Behind closed doors, Chi Yang would prop up her legs and click her tongue in amusement:

People in the capital are so easy to fool. My silly big brother still thinks I'm sweet, sensible, and harmless. He has no idea I stole this identity.

Later, the marriage she'd carefully arranged for herself fell through. At her perfectly proper coming-of-age banquet, her true identity was exposed in public. Then, after getting drunk, she woke up to find herself lying in Chi Zhen's bed, staring straight into his eyes.

Only then did she realize: Chi Zhen had known everything.

Chi Yang was furious, but she knew she was in the wrong too, so she left without a word.

She had just stepped beyond the capital's gates when she heard that the wretched man had fallen into terrible trouble and been thrown into the imperial prison.

Everyone said he was plotting rebellion, that he was a treacherous wolf at heart.

His old enemies and new foes watched him like hawks, waiting for his execution so they could celebrate his downfall.

Chi Zhen held a high position and wielded great power. He was always calm and restrained in public. But when he saw Yangyang in the imperial prison, though she should have been safely out of the capital by then, his heart shook.

Chi Yang looked away, holding back the tears in her eyes, and sneered, "I just came to see what Prince of Jin looks like now that he's fallen from grace."
