*She knew she was trapped by her own self.
Trapped in a bizarre, absurd world.
Cases of every size happened around her every day.
Screaming, crying, calling the police. There was nothing else to do.
Oh, right. There was one other thing she had to do.
Every day, she could only stare out the window and at the snippets of words on her phone, longing for her childhood friend, Shinichi Kudo, who had been missing for who knew how many years.
She had realized long ago that something was wrong with her, but like a bird stuck in the mud, no matter how she spread her wings, she could not break through that ashen, dusty net.
She could only watch herself helplessly, trapped and gradually swallowed by the mud.
Only then did she understand: she was the heroine of the world, yet she was widely criticized and surrounded by controversy.
There was only one reason: all she knew how to do was fall in love and cry.
The suspicion that the world had forcibly erased her was also confirmed. Conan was Shinichi Kudo.
The world had kept her in the dark, even as she trusted it.
She was furious. She cried out. At last, the will of the world noticed her collapse and rage, and offered her another choice:
Stop being the protagonist.
Then she would be free, but she would no longer be the heroine, nor would she receive Shinichi Kudo’s exclusive love.
Who was Ran Mouri?
Ran Mouri was simply Ran Mouri. She wasn’t anyone’s heroine, and she wasn’t someone who lived in another person’s shadow.
She could cry and feel sad. She could laugh and get angry. She would live as herself.
So, should she stop being the protagonist? Lose her heroine’s halo forever and become just another background character in his life?
It didn’t matter. She was willing, even if she still loved Shinichi Kudo and was still willing to face the storms of the future alongside him.
But she loved herself more.
.
Shinichi Kudo never knew.
His protection was a shackle on Ran’s freedom.
That shackle had always held Ran back, keeping her stuck in place, waiting in vain for ten years, then twenty.
Only after Ran was gone did he understand.
His girl had never been someone who only knew how to wait for rescue. She was willing to face death with him, willing to risk her life and fight by his side.
She was Ran, a sunflower, an angel.
She didn’t want to be trapped in a cage called love.
All she hoped for was this:
To walk beside him.
[Important Reading Notes]
1. This was inspired by nostalgia for the old Ran. Not an emotionless police-reporting machine, but the brave, righteous girl who was like an angel.
2. I acknowledge Shinichi’s devotion and desire to protect her, and I understand the choices he made as Shinichi. I have never doubted his feelings for Ran.
But I believe the real Ran would want trust and the chance to move forward side by side, not to have so many people keep so much from her. It really isn’t fair.
I believe that the girl who dared to jump off a skyscraper and a train would also have the courage to face every darkness and storm alongside the boy she loves most.
She and her love are both pure and flawless. So surely Ran wouldn’t accept Shinichi’s deception without any reservations?
3. I want to write about Ran’s brilliance as an independent person. So the ShinRan pairing may break up, or it may not. We’ll see how the story goes. (Even the author can’t decide what Ran chooses for herself. I’ll find out who she ends up with as I write.)
!*Important: If you’re not okay with the pairing being broken up or with an unusual pairing, please leave now. Don’t come after me later!
4. I haven’t decided whether the main plot will be involved yet. For now, it’s everyday cases and helping Ran awaken to herself.
5. The characterization should be based on early Ran. Any OOC is Aoyama’s fault (just kidding. You have to admit the later characterization does feel off). Anyway, anything that can’t be explained can be chalked up to Detective Conan logic, haha. (Not responsible.jpg)
Theme: Love isn’t losing yourself to someone else. It’s a future spent walking side by side.
I'm so angry, I'm so angry, I'm so angry, I never thought that Mao Lilan could be hurt after all these years. My daughter is the most innocent, I don't know anything, every action is to save people.
To be honest, Lan can recognize the little Azusa played by Sister Bei, but there is no reason why he can't recognize Conan...
I hope you will keep updating. I am really traumatized. Why is my Xiaolan so miserable?
I'm really happy that more and more wives are starting to write in Lan.
The highlight is Toru Amuro's, not hers... Even if he is clearly showing signs of fatigue due to being trapped in emotions, it should be used as the alarm bell that "something happened"... I feel so sad, but these are exactly the Ran Mouri in the current original work. It is even said that if Ran was trapped in emotions, it would only be her love troubles with Kudo Shinichi. If the halo of the heroine faded, Kudo Shinichi would only remember to contact his little childhood sweetheart once in a few days. He would look at Lan every day, and Lan would not see him every day. Even for Lan, Conan, a seven-year-old child who suddenly appeared, had more frequent and intimate contact with her than Shinichi.
Damn Qingshan makes the current Xiaolan so OOC. In the early stage, Xiaolan was powerful, sensible, and even had very good reasoning skills.
Happy birthday Lan Lan on May 18th!! May she never be deceived and be treated sincerely. May she be unrestrained and free! May that upright, sincere, brave and kind-hearted girl get rid of the shackles of 'love' and find good fortune in life from now on! (PS: I haven't watched Conan for the moment. Even if I pick it up and write about it later, the cp will definitely be removed. You can leave it as you like~)
Come on, madam, madam, come on, I want to watch, I want to watch, I want to go crazy, I want to knock CP, I want to split the official team, I really can't stand it anymore
So happy to see the update! I haven't been hit by 73 at all this year hahaha, because I have escaped from Xinlan, and now I am at a level where there will be no fluctuations in any official activities.
He was hit and killed by the car. He is an old thief and unkind, so let's dismantle the official team.
