On his first day with the Fatui, Ajax was handed over to the Harbinger known as the Knight by Lord Rooster, supposedly to help him hone his skills.
Rooster had solemnly assured him that, as the Tsaritsa's sharpest sword, this Knight could carve through the Abyss single-handedly without so much as a scratch, and could even take on the gods with ease.
Yet not long after Ajax was promoted to the Harbinger known as Tartaglia, a wanted notice declaring the Knight a fugitive who had fled out of guilt was plastered all over the streets and alleys of Snezhnaya's capital. After that, the Knight vanished without a trace.
When they met again, Tartaglia was working a sewing machine in the lightless Fortress of Meropide. The prison door opened and closed, and there, locked away, was his former superior, once so full of spirit.
They stared at each other for a while. At last, the Knight broke the awkward silence.
Lilith: Let's break out.
Tartaglia: How?
Lilith: Over the years, I've made plenty of friends on the outside, a bunch of big shots known throughout Teyvat. I'll ask them to come up with a way to get us out.
Tartaglia: ...Which big shots? Do tell.
Lilith: There's one who drinks and sings poetry, one who walks birds and listens to opera, one who soars through the clouds, and one who's learned in all fields. Oh, and there's a blonde who keeps a flying pet. We're as thick as thieves.
Tartaglia shuddered, then fell silent for a long, long time.
