Dai La lives in the dark, damp sewers. Rats are her companions, and untouchable ghosts are her teachers.
The rats glow, and the ghosts teach her magic. Living here doesn't seem so bad.
But every now and then, she wishes she had a human friend.
The rats say that humans living aboveground will reject her;
The ghosts say that humans in white and gold robes will purify her.
A talking stone she happened to find asks her what she wants.
Dai La makes a wish to it.
The next day...
A strange-looking human falls through the moss-covered ceiling of the sewer.

The City of Liara is known by players as the most "hellish" game in the history of virtual reality.
Exploration is grueling, boss fights are brutally difficult, and if you aren't agile enough... you can't even use the guides' bug exploits or cheese strategies!
After making a mistake, a player gets stuck in the sewer.
...Why is there a little girl in the sewer?
Unlike the city's residents, who change their faces and turn into bosses at the drop of a hat, the girl living in the sewer is gentle and kind. Even when all she has left is a hard, dry piece of rye bread, she insists on giving it to her newly made "friend."
The rescued player, furious, posts about it, bringing in even more players eager to raise a child.
The sewer air is bad? Air purifiers, coming right up!
It's cold and dark down here? Heaters and magic lamps, coming right up!
Rye bread tastes awful, and the floor is uncomfortable to sleep on? Delicious food and warm beds, coming right up!
In less than three months, the sewer has become a little town.
Players, mentally and physically exhausted from being tormented by the game, treat it as their "temporary base" and Dai La as their adorable little sister. Even the rats wandering through the sewers begin to look cute.
During an unprecedented "faction war," players face off against the corrupted bishop and get thoroughly beaten.
Just when all hope seems lost, a tiny figure appears before them and stretches out her arms.
"Don't hurt my friends!"
As her furious, tearful cry rings out, indescribable beings surge from her shadow and knock down the berserk boss.
#Shocking! The little sister we've been raising from afar is a devotee of an evil god!
#Fortunes have turned: the boss is at my house!
- More or less, it's about a group of fairly well-adjusted (?) players raising a child together. The game setting is pretty grim, and the NPCs are mainly there to torment the players.
- A slice-of-life, healing story, possibly with a little bit of town-building (developing the sewers).
