Kyle: A water-magic boy and a good-for-nothing who has only mastered healing magic. First-place winner of the broomstick-riding competition. After coming of age, he is honorably assigned to care for magical dragons, acting as their guardian until they find their own dragon knights.
His duties include, but are not limited to: scrubbing every dragon's scales, waking the red dragon, telling the blue dragon bedtime stories, and even helping the black dragon return the prince he kidnapped to his castle!
Kyle rubs his forehead. All that is one thing, but what is with the dragon egg that inexplicably appeared at his doorstep? The clan leader never said his job included incubating eggs!
With nobody claiming the dragon egg, Kyle can only raise it himself, tears in his eyes. The clingy egg can't bear to be away from him and is always curled up in his arms, begging to be held.
There is no end to the headaches: while scrubbing the red dragon's scales, he discovers its right heart scale is missing, leaving a huge bloody hole; at night, while Kyle sleeps with the dragon egg in his arms, a rustling sound wakes him, and he finds the blue dragon tiptoeing around, trying to steal his household registration booklet; just when he finally gets the heartbroken prince back to his castle, the black dragon clings to Kyle's leg, sobbing and begging him to bring the prince back...
Kyle: ...
Everything is in chaos. The green dragon perches grandly atop the valley, looking down disdainfully at the younger ones getting scolded. Kyle glances up and almost chokes. Green dragon! Where are your horns?!
Damn it, my fists are itching.
A golden-haired boy crouches by the roadside, running a stall with a snow-white little dragon in his arms. In front of him is a row of colorful, disgruntled dragons with straw markers tied to their heads.
Don't walk by without a look! Red, blue, black, and green dragons, all slightly defective, just eight gold coins each! Oh? You want the little white dragon? Sorry, the white dragon is flawless, not for sale.
Oh, this damn double standard. The dragons weep.
