After Falling into the Flower Lane

Sickly Beauty and a Sultry Young Man

In a mysterious world built for the upper classes, Lu Xi cannot resist when a pipe is forced between her lips and teeth.

She is a witch, a courtesan, and a songstress.

She cannot remember where she came from. All she wants is to survive.

But in this place, only those who are alluring and dazzling can make it out alive.

When she meets Feng Yanqing,

beneath the young man's fox mask, a pair of flirtatious peach-blossom eyes gaze at her with brazen abandon. His fingers delicately trace the shape of her lips with a long-stemmed pipe.

Lu Xi trembles and kneels before him. He smiles with refined cruelty. "Little liar."

Feng Yanqing comes from a prominent family, yet was born under a star of ill fortune.

When he was seven, everyone in the Feng family died, leaving only him and an old yellow dog who guarded the gate.

The Lu family came to break off his engagement. He accepted gladly, but the next day, their young daughter met a strange and untimely death.

Everyone blamed the misfortune that befell the Lu family's daughter on Feng Yanqing, who was only seven years old.

Eleven years later,

on a mysterious island, he meets a young woman with snow-white skin, moonlike beauty, and a slender, graceful figure. Her misty, sparkling doe eyes look just like the eyes of the girl in his dreams...

Where can one find a true love in the pleasure quarter?

Lu Xi reminds herself to stay on guard, but in the end, she cannot help asking, "I heard the person in your heart is sixteen this year, or... eleven?"

Feng Yanqing draws his gaze back from the distance and looks at her for a long time with drunken eyes. At last, he smiles, covering Lu Xi's anxious, fluttering eyes. "Yes. Someone told me she died at five. This year makes eleven years... Your eyes look so much like hers..."

As he speaks, he leans closer and closer. Lu Xi suddenly comes to her senses and shoves him away. "Please behave yourself, sir."

Feng Yanqing falls to the ground, but instead of getting angry, he laughs and grabs her ankle...

Singing along to the music, he chants, "Grandma says, little girl, come home, come home."

No one knows that the young man who rode through the long streets never gave up searching for a girl, even after his family fell into ruin and he was left all alone.

As the years flew by in a vast sea of people, he waited thousands upon thousands of times, and was disappointed just as often.

The dashing young man, who had never believed in ghosts, gods, or fate, even began to abstain from meat and pray to Buddha, asking him to keep the girl whose whereabouts were unknown safe and sound.
