Dear Midwife

Huang Weixi was the star midwife at the city's maternal and child health hospital. With her own hands, she had helped countless new lives into the world.

Then, one stormy night, she came across a man on the road. In the chaos, the two of them delivered a baby together.

"Don't be afraid. Breathe along with me," she reassured the mother. The man took off his coat and wrapped the newborn in it.

"Don't touch the umbilical cord!" She rushed over.

"Be quiet and press on the fundus," he ordered coldly.

Later, that kindhearted man turned out to be Zhao Tongyuan, the new doctor in the obstetrics and gynecology department!

Dr. Zhao was a little strange. Whenever he had free time, he would sit alone, scribbling and sketching on paper.

By chance, she opened his sketchbook. Every page was filled with drawings of her!

The wisps of hair sticking up beneath her surgical cap. Her profile as she dozed against the wall.

On the last page, a line of tiny writing read:

"She catches new lives as they enter the world. I only want to catch her."
